Invisible Treatment

Introducing the Invisalign System

The aligner system that Ortho Point Orthodontic Clinic use for their patients is called Invisalign and is made by Align Tech. With Invisalign, achieving the smile you always dreamed of doesn’t have to be a big deal. In fact, it barely has to impact your day-to-day life at all.

Invisalign straightens teeth using a series of nearly invisible, removable aligners that are custom-made specifically for your teeth. As you replace each aligner every two weeks, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week, gradually moving towards the projected final position.

Comfortable, clear and removable – Invisalign transforms your smile without disrupting your life. Something that over 8 million people worldwide have already discovered.

The Benefits

Invisalign aligners are nearly invisible. No one may even notice that you’re wearing these virtually invisible aligners, making Invisalign a seamless fit with your lifestyle and day-to-day interactions with others.

Invisalign aligners are removable giving you the flexibility to eat and drink what you want during treatment by simply removing the aligners. And you can also remove the aligners to brush and floss as you normally would for fresh breath and to maintain good oral hygiene.

Unlike traditional fixed braces, there are no metal brackets or wires. This means that in most cases less time is spent in your Invisalign Provider’s practice for adjustments.

And finally, Invisalign allows you to view your virtual results and treatment plan before you even begin treatment so you can see how your teeth are expected to look when your treatment is complete.

Digital Technology

Orthodontists have, in the past, successfully used removable appliances for years but they are limited to relative simple cases. But with the application of Align Technology’s 3D computer technology and mass-customisation, the Invisalign System can be used to treat a wide range of patients who wants straighter teeth and to have their bite corrected. The unique  ClinCheck software allows patients to see their treatment plan from beginning to end even before the start of treatment.

How does it work?

Invisalign aligners move teeth with an appropriate placement of controlled movement on the teeth. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign not only controls the amount of movement per aligner, but also the timing of the movement.  So at each stage, only certain teeth are allowed to move, as per the Invisalign treatment plan for that particular stage. This results in an efficient force delivery system that moves teeth into the desired prescribed position.

Invisible Treatment

The virtually invisible aligners are made of strong medical grade thermoplastic material, uniquely developed for the Invisalign System. The aligners are custom-made for you and fit snugly over your teeth.

Appointments

Appointment intervals are generally the same as with traditional braces but can be much quicker with less time spent in Dr Chye's chair during appointments as no adjustments need to be made to wires/brackets.  Patients typically visit Dr Chye every 4 to 8 weeks to ensure the treatment is progressing as planned, and to receive their next few sets of Invisalign aligners.

Food

Unlike traditional wires and brackets, you can eat whatever you like while in treatment because you remove your aligners to eat and drink. Thus, there is no need to restrict consuming any of your favourite foods and snacks. Also, it is important that you brush and floss your teeth after each meal and prior to re-inserting your aligners to maintain proper hygiene.

Treatment Duration

Generally the treatment duration is dependent on the complexity of your case. Most comprehensive treatment would take around 2 years to complete. While simpler cases can be from around 6-12 months to complete. During your consultation, Dr Chye will provide you with more detailed information.

4 steps to your new smile.

Photo
Step 1

We will take you through the Case Assessment, which is a simple set of photos to determine whether you are suitable for Invisalign treatment.

Man
Step 2

If treatment is right for you, we’ll take photos, X-rays and digital scans, or a dental impression, of your teeth. Then we’ll create you a digital treatment plan, using our state of the art technology, showing you what your results could look like via a 3D video.

Step 3

We’ll give you a series of aligners to wear every day and change at home – on average every 1-2 weeks (as directed by your Dentist). You can comfortably wear your aligners for 22 hours a day (the recommended daily wear). And because they’re removable, it’s easy to maintain your normal oral hygiene routine and enjoy your usual diet.

Step 4

We’ll invite you back to the practice around every 4-6 weeks to monitor progress and hand over your new aligners. At the end of your treatment, you will need to wear your retainers to maintain your new smile.
